Current offers from web hosting services today abound with the statements that unlimited disk space or unlimited bandwidth are on offer. It seems like this is an option that has to be fulfilled today before a web host can offer its services. People should know though, that there really isn’t such a thing as unlimited anything.
These statements coming out of the web hosts are only a type of marketing ploy though. Becaus eunlimited doesn’t really exist in the sense that we would like it to, we can’t use it. At the end of the day, you would have to have one huge website with literally tens of thousands of pages to even reach your disk space limit, and would also need thousands of visitors daily to get near a five or ten gigabyte monthly bandwidth limit.
And this is something that all web hosting services are all aware off. Nevertheless, they still offer the services because all the other web hosting services are offering it. And thinking about it, this doesn’t cost the web hosts a dime. Those customers that do find themselves reaching the limits of their resources face the very real risk of being suspended or even having their accounts terminated. It seems a parody.
If you are seriously thinking about paying to join a host that does indeed stipulate unlimited resources in their plans, you would do well to take heed of the following. First of all, always read the terms and conditions and scrutinize them carefully. Bad terms and conditions invariably mean a bad web hosting service. If you are tempted to sign up because of the marketing ploy, then remember others have as well. This may mean overloaded servers in the long run. Three, try and search out web hosting services that do not offer any unlimited resources. At the end of the day, you can ask them beforehand if there hosting plans are upgradeable.
